SMALL THREAD — for earlier Fastback, Squareback, Roundback and Newport Mallet 1 models. Most current Scotty Cameron putters (Newport, Phantom, GoLo, Futura, Special Select, Super Select and Studio Style) take the large thread instead, see our Large Thread Silver weights.

Scotty Cameron Small Thread Putter Weights – Silver (Pair)

Replacement sole weights for the small thread (also called narrow or thin thread) weight ports on earlier Scotty Cameron mid-mallets including the Studio Select Fastback and Squareback, the 2014–2018 Select Fastback, Squareback and Roundback, the Newport Mallet 1 and the California Fastback. Sold as a matched pair in a clean unpainted silver finish.

Our aftermarket putter weights allow golfers and club builders to fine-tune head weight, swing weight, and overall balance without sending the putter out to a custom shop. Whether you're replacing a lost weight, compensating for a shaft or grip change, or building toward a specific swing weight target, swapping the sole weights is the simplest and most reversible way to change how a putter feels through the stroke.

These weights are machined to Scotty Cameron's small thread standard and use the standard 5-hole pin pattern, so they install with our T-Handle Weight Wrench or 3/8" Socket Weight Wrench. Every order ships as a matched pair, two weights of the same gram value.

Important: this is the less common thread. Scotty Cameron putters use two weight threads that are not interchangeable, and the same model name (Fastback, Squareback) has used both depending on the year. These are small thread weights. Remove one of your existing weights and confirm it has the narrower small thread post before ordering. If your post is the wider large thread, you need our large thread weights instead.

Club Type Putter
Thread Type Small Thread (Narrow)
Weight Options 5g, 10g, 15g, 20g
Sold As Matched Pair (2 weights of the same gram value)
Finish Silver (No Paint Fill)
Weight Style Sole Weight, 5-Hole Pin Pattern
Tool Required Scotty Cameron 5-Pin Weight Wrench (sold separately)
Origin Aftermarket

Removing your factory weights: some original weights on these older mid-mallets are reported to use a different pin pattern from the standard 5-hole design. If a 5-pin wrench does not seat in your original weights, you may need a matching tool to remove them. Once they are out, our weights install with a standard 5-pin wrench.

Same name, different thread: a 2014 Select Fastback takes the small thread, while a Special Select or Studio Style Fastback 1.5 takes the large thread. When in doubt, send us a photo of your existing weight and we will confirm fit before you order.

Choosing Your Weight

Scotty Cameron's factory sole weight is determined largely by putter length — shorter putters use heavier weights to maintain head feel. Use the following as a starting point, then adjust to taste:

Putter Length Typical Pair Weight
36" 2 x 5g
35" 2 x 10g
34" 2 x 15g
33" 2 x 20g

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know if my putter uses large thread or small thread weights?

Scotty Cameron has used two different weight threads over the years, and they look very similar at a glance. The only reliable way to tell is to remove one of the weights currently in your putter with a pin-style weight wrench and look at the threaded post. The small thread post is narrower in diameter with finer threads; the large thread post is noticeably wider with coarser threads.

These weights are small thread. They fit earlier Fastback, Squareback, Roundback and Newport Mallet 1 models and will not thread into the large thread port used on most current Scotty Cameron putters. The same model name has used both threads depending on year, so please check the fitment tables in the product description and verify against your actual weight rather than relying on the model name alone. If you are unsure, send us a photo of your existing weight before ordering and we will confirm it for you.

Do these fit and finish like the original Scotty Cameron factory weights?

Yes. These weights are precision-machined to match the factory small thread dimensions and seat flush in the sole pocket with no gaps or wobble. They use the standard 5-hole pin pattern and install with our Scotty Cameron T-handle or 3/8 inch socket weight wrench.

These are aftermarket components manufactured by 704 Clubworks and are not produced by, affiliated with, or endorsed by Titleist or Scotty Cameron. Brand names are referenced solely to indicate fitment.

How many grams should I go up or down when changing my putter shaft or grip?

A general rule in club fitting is that every 2 grams of head weight change shifts swing weight by roughly one swing weight point. Because putter sole weights come in pairs, moving from a 10g pair to a 15g pair adds 10 grams of total head weight — about five swing weight points — so the jumps are larger than they look.

If you have installed a heavier aftermarket putter grip or a counterbalanced grip, stepping up to a heavier pair helps restore the head feel that the added butt weight takes away. If you have shortened the putter, a heavier pair can bring head feel back; if you have lengthened it, a lighter pair usually works better. Most fitters recommend changing one variable at a time and re-measuring on a swing weight scale between adjustments.

How many weights will I receive per order?

Each order quantity of 1 includes one matched pair — two (2) weights of the same gram value in your selected option. This is the correct quantity to reweight a single putter, since Scotty Cameron models take one weight per side of the sole.

Multiple weights, gram options, or finishes may appear in our listing photos to showcase the available range, demonstrate installation, or provide product context — but a single quantity at checkout means one pair will be shipped. If you need to weight more than one putter, adjust your quantity at checkout or add each gram option individually to your cart.

Are the listed weights exact, and what are the manufacturing tolerances?

Listed gram values refer to each individual weight, not the combined pair. A 10 Gram selection ships two 10-gram weights for 20 grams of total added head weight.

Due to standard manufacturing tolerances, the exact weight of each component may vary slightly from the listed gram value. Our target tolerance is ±0.5 grams, and in practice our components frequently exceed that standard — meaning real-world variance is often even tighter than our published tolerance.

For context, golf club heads from major manufacturers typically carry a tolerance of ±1–2 grams, and golf grips and shafts often have similar or larger variances. Our ±0.5g target is held to a higher standard than most of the components already in your bag.

These minor variations do not significantly impact performance and are well within accepted industry standards. Please review these tolerances before purchasing. By placing an order you acknowledge these variations as a normal part of precision manufacturing. If you have any questions before ordering, feel free to contact us.
